                                                                                                                                                                                                          It’s Christmas Eve high atop the Rocky Mountains where the weather and a tragic accident have combined to bring together an odd collection of Holiday travelers.  Aaron Kaufmann, a lonely Jewish widower living alone in a quaint mountain cabin, has his solitude abruptly invaded by two hapless Denver Bronco fans on their way home from a special Christmas Eve football game.  The two pigskin stalwarts begin to regale Aaron with their tale of yuletide misfortune, while at the same time hearing aspects of Jewish holiday life and comparing them to their own somewhat warped Christmas experiences.  The trio is soon joined by a nervous young man and his somewhat exasperated wife who is, (you guessed it), great with child.  As it turns out, the newlyweds have had a similar experience in their own travels and are desperately seeking shelter from the elements and each other.

  It’s Not Just Your Right – It’s Your Duty

Cast: 10 Principle Characters

It’s Election Day, and 18 year old Billy, much to the shock and horror of his best friend Ashton, has decided not to exercise his constitutional right to vote.  In spite of all of Ashton’s desperate pleas, Billy remains convinced that his vote will not make a difference in the upcoming election.  It takes the statue of America’s favorite Uncle to come to life and try to set Billy on the right track.  Through the magic of theatre, Uncle Sam takes Billy and Ashton on a unique odyssey beginning with the American Revolution and continuing through the Civil War, Women’s Suffrage, and ending with a final poignant stopover at Arlington Nation Cemetery.  At each destination, Billy and Ashton are introduced to all the historical giants that helped shape our great nation.  Together they will attempt to alter Billy’s attitude toward his country’s greatest gift and responsibility.

Christmas In An Airport

Set: Interior Airport Waiting Lounge - Interior Smoking Lounge

It is 3:00 am on Christmas Eve in a typical Mid-western airport.  Everything seems to be operating normally, only, much to the dismay of the waiting airline passengers, none of the scheduled flights are taking off.  Waiting for departure are a wild range of characters all of whom have many personal and family issues that, for a variety of reasons, have gone unresolved.  At the center of the action is the kindly Ticket Agent, George Carrington who does his best to keep everyone calm, while at the same time, gently guiding them towards conflict resolution.  As we move through to the poignant and heartfelt ending, George’s words, “the plane will leave when everyone is ready” become very prophetic indeed.

Michael Roark, (a.k.a. - Melodrama Mike) the playwright, owns all rights of production on the scripts listed  on this web site.  Public performances of Melodrama Mike plays without prior written agreement between the producer and the playwright are prohibited by the laws of copyright.

Perusal Scripts:

You can order a perusal copy of a melodrama script for the purpose of study  at $10.00 per copy. This is an edited version of the script with samples of text from the play.  It is not a production copy.  The price includes regular ground shipping to any of the 50 states in this great country we call the U.S.A.  Express shipping can be arranged at additional cost. If you decide to produce a Melodrama Mike script you will need to obtain Production Rights and an appropriate number of Production Scripts.

Production Scripts:

If you decide to produce a Melodrama Mike script you will need to obtain Production Rights by paying royalties on a "Per Performance" basis.   Royalties for production of Melodrama Mike scripts are listed individually within the play descriptions.  When you make arrangements for royalty payment you will also need to order an appropriate number of Performance Scripts.  You will need a copy for each of the following people in your organization:  The producer, the director, the stage manager and a copy for each of the performers.  All prices includes regular ground shipping to any of the 50 states in this great country we call the U.S.A.  and express shipping can be arranged at additional cost. Each script provided by Melodrama Mike's Play Service is protected by copyright law and clearly marked "Do Not Copy".  Be sure to get enough scripts for every one involved.
